Aix en Provence, the old capital of Provence, is a centre of cultural excellence and is also known for its numerous fountains and diamond shaped almond sweets (calissons). The town has provided inspiration to many great writers and painters: Guigou, Stendhal, Mistral, Zola et Cézanne. It also has a rich architectural heritage with well preserved historical buildings. Every summer, Aix en Provence hosts the "Festival International d'Art Lyrique et de Musique" which brings together renowned musical artists.

The port of Marseilles, on the Mediterranean Sea, is a cosmopolitan city with many attractions including the old port (vieux port), the quaint "Panier" quarter and the cathedral (Notre dame de la Garde). Nearby, one can also explore the coastal rocky inlets (calanques) or take a cruise to the "Chateau d'If" (of Count of Monte Cristo fame). The celebrated "Bouillabaisse" can be savoured at one of Marseilles' many restaurants. The boules game (Petanque) is played in the many squares of Marseilles where one can also hear the inimitable French southern accent. Marseilles was recently voted the European capital of culture for 2013.

The natural regional park of Camargue is a vast and beautiful area of swamp land which is formed by the delta of the Rhone River. This is the home of the pink flamingos and herds of wild bulls and horses.

The historical city of Avignon, home of the summer festival of music, will touch the heart. In the fourteen century, Avignon became the residence of the popes who have left an impressive architectural heritage. One will enjoy visiting the "Palais des Papes" and the famous "Pont d'Avignon" or taking a cruise on the Rhone River. Avignon also hosts many live events, both theatrical and musical.

The ski resort of Praloup in the Alpes de Haute Provence region is an ideal destination for families.

From Dauphin, it is also easy to travel to the French Riviera for the day (Cassis, Bandol, Hyères) or rub shoulders with the rich and famous in St Tropez.
